I turn good ideas into things that work, last, and make life a little easier, with technical know-how, practical problem-solving, and a little sparkle.

There’s more than one way to bring an idea to life

Whether you need something designed, a digital system that works better, or help getting a project across the finish line, I can help.

The big picture. The little details. The work in between.

I bring curiosity, creativity, and a practical mindset to every project.

I think big pictureI have a thing for detailsI bring it all together
Understanding where you're going, shapes where we startThe little things can make the biggest differenceTurning the moving pieces into something that makes sense.

There’s a lot behind the way I work: a curious brain, an engineering background, a love of good design, and perhaps an unreasonable fondness for figuring things out. Learn more about me and how I work.

How I can help

Sometimes you know exactly what you need. Sometimes you just know something isn’t working. Either way, I can help you make sense of the moving pieces, build a practical solution, and bring it to life.

Not sure where to start?

That's okay. You bring the idea, the question, or the slightly tangled mess. We'll talk it through, figure out what you need, and see where I can help.

Hi, I'm Hannah

I’m curious by nature and slightly obsessed with making things work better.

My background is a little unconventional

I’m an engineer by training, a project manager at heart, and a designer, problem-solver, and systems nerd by choice. I’ve worked across engineering, technology, communications, community organizations, and project management, which means I’m comfortable jumping into all kinds of projects and figuring out what needs to happen next.

I especially like the messy middle

The part where the idea exists, but nobody quite knows what happens next. The part where there are a dozen moving pieces, a few competing priorities, and a deadline getting closer.

Thats where my magic shines

I bring structure to ambiguity, connect the pieces, and help turn an idea into something people can actually use.

I ask questionsI find the threadsI build practical solutionsI stick with it
Before jumping into a solution, I want to understand what you're actually trying to accomplish. When a project feels complicated, there's usually a way to break it into smaller pieces and figure out how they connect.I'm not interested in adding complexity just because I can. I want to create things that work in the real world and that you can actually use.The launch isn't always the finish line. Sometimes the most valuable part is refining, troubleshooting, improving, and making sure the thing keeps working.

When I'm not working

You’ll probably find me somewhere outside, working in the garden, watching birds, baking something, reading, or attempting to convince myself that this will finally be the year I get better at golf.I'm happiest when I'm learning something, making something, or figuring something out.Which, conveniently, is also pretty much how I ended up here.

A few things I've helped bring to life

Websites, digital systems, community projects, and the occasional wonderfully complicated problem. Here's a look at some of the work I've done and the ways I've helped turn ideas into something real.

Websites & Digital Experiences

Hannah & Erik Adopt

Website Design · Branding · Content Organization

I built this website for our own adoption journey, to tell our story and give people a meaningful way to learn more about our family. It was my first real website project, and the one that made me realize just how much I loved bringing ideas like this to life.It holds a special place in my heart, not just because of why I made it, but because it was the beginning of Designs by Hannah.

Cloquet Area Indivisible

Website Design · Digital Communications · Systems

I built this website for a growing grassroots organization that needed a central place to share its mission, events, resources, and ways for people to get involved. I also connected the site with the digital tools they use to communicate, organize, and engage with their community. It’s a project that really showcases how I like to work: bringing design, technology, and a whole lot of moving pieces together into something that is simple to use.

Carlton County Messages to 2076

Website Design · Digital Communications · Systems

I helped bring Carlton County’s Messages to 2076 project together as part of the county’s 250th anniversary celebration. The project brings community members together to share their hopes, ideas, and messages for Carlton County’s future. My role focused on organizing the moving pieces, supporting the project’s planning and implementation, and helping turn a big community idea into something people could actually participate in.

Digital Systems & Solutions

Golf League Management System

Systems Design · Automation · Data Organization

I built and organized a digital system to manage our golf league's scores, handicaps, standings, schedules, and other league information. I designed the underlying spreadsheets and processes to handle calculations, keep information organized, and reduce the amount of manual work required to run the league. As the league evolved, I migrated the system to FringeGolfers and handled the setup and configuration there as well, making sure the league's information and workflows continued to work smoothly. The result: a much easier way to manage the league behind the scenes and keep players informed without everything relying on manual record-keeping.

Cloquet Area Indivisible

Digital Systems · Integrations · Communications

I helped build and manage the digital systems that support a growing grassroots organization, connecting its website, email communications, events, membership, forms, analytics, and other tools into a more cohesive digital ecosystem. As the organization grew, I also helped improve workflows, organize information, troubleshoot technology, and make sure the different pieces worked together instead of creating more work for the people running them. The result: a digital infrastructure that could support a growing organization without requiring everything to be managed manually.

Knowledge & Resource Management

Information Systems · Content Organization · User Experience

I managed and organized an internal digital resource hub used by a sales team to find the information and materials they needed. I worked to structure content logically, improve navigation, keep resources current, and make it easier for people to find the right information when they needed it.The work taught me something I still carry into my projects today: a digital system is only useful if the people using it can actually understand it, navigate it, and find what they're looking for.

Projects & Strategy

Oldenburg Arts & Culture Community

Project Management · Planning · Organizational Strategy

I’ve supported OACC with planning, governance, committee development, project evaluation, and the systems needed to help a volunteer-driven organization keep moving forward. The work often starts with a big idea or a complicated question and turns into a clearer plan, defined next steps, and tools people can actually use.

Thomson Township Campaign

Strategy · Communications · Project Management

I built and managed my own local campaign from the ground up, developing the strategy, messaging, website, voter outreach, events, materials, and systems needed to keep everything moving.Running a campaign has been a crash course in turning a lot of competing priorities into a focused plan, communicating with different audiences, and getting things done on a real deadline.

Carlton County Historical Society

Project Management · Planning · Implementation

I’m leading a website redesign project for the Carlton County Historical Society, taking the project from initial planning through content organization, design, development, and launch. The project brings together a lot of moving pieces, including existing digital tools, organizational needs, content, and a new website, with the goal of creating something that's easier for the organization and its community to use.
